Vision, Mission and Philosophy

Welcome to Suliver

The Sustainability and Livelihood Research Organization (SULIVER), is a non-profit research organization that conducts independent, high quality applied research on sustainability and livelihood issues in the Global South. SULIVER serves as a forum for interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainable and inclusive development by stakeholders from the governments, international development agencies, private sector, civil society and the media.

Vision:
Suliver’s vision is a world where communities are aware of the need for sustainable development, and the practical steps to a sustainable future.

Mission::
SULIVER research organization supports and aspires the next generation of sustainability and livelihood researchers. Its mission is to enhance sustainable development and improved livelihood through evidence-based research. As a network, SULIVER seeks to transform societal behaviors on climate change and environmental issues based on scientific findings. The network establishes an open space for critical inquiry within social and natural science disciplines.

Philosophy:
As early and young career researchers, SULIVER believes that practical solutions to the challenge of a fast degrading social and natural environment depend on a transformative model of science-driven policy. This strategy is based on ideas and topics, which flow from researchers in natural and social science disciplines. We are together based on a systemic mindset of science. We strongly believe that policy is a networked process in which scientific evidence is part of the system. Therefore, the goals of sustainable and inclusive development can be reachable in urban and rural communities in Global North and South, through policy decisions. This, no doubt entails the delicate act of balancing empirical data with other values in each community.
