Futhermore, the board reps also visited The global secretariat of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in New York. The Mr. Rajeev Issar, from the Capacity Development for Risk Governance, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Reduction unit, received the team. The objective of the visit was to establish a working relationship and a partnership framework between Suliver and UNDP. The two entities identified areas of common interests and potential activities, especially on issues of capacity building for local climate mitigation and resilience.

The group deliberated on Suliver’s intention to use New York City as a Central Hub to share sustainability and climate change related information globally. The emphasis was on Education, resilience building and capacity building in the face of recurrent climate-related disasters that have occurred recently. The Chair of the board related this as a mitigating factor against the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals in many countries. UNDP expressed interest to partner with Suliver in areas of mutual interest. The UNDP also promised to participate in planning the future Suliver-UNDP forum scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2019.
